Kathi von Koerber founded KIAHKEYA in 2004 in the vein of informing and disseminating ART, CREATIVITY and SPIRITUALITY for the purpose of cross cultural and environmental equality and tolerance. Kathi has had extensive experience planning and curateing multi-media events in the US and Europe, and has traveled and performed internationally as a dancer and multi-media artist, working with diverse communities such as the Jao Hansi (Bushmen) of Southern Africa. Over the years Kathi has developed a broad network of international artists, photographers, filmmakers, master dancers, electronic and world music musician. Kiahkeya is a production company that aims to serve as a platform for artists to share their diverse cultural influences and expressions.

Kiahkeya founder Kathi von Koerber was born in South Africa of German descent, is an accomplished dancer and film/video - artist. She earned her BA in Liberal Arts at the New School University, studied and worked in China in the 90s, and has had extensive experience at producing events and performances worldwide. Kathi is passionately dedicated to the earth and the manifest of Kiahkeya. For example, Kathi has shown her work in Berlin, Prague, Zurich, Paris, Vienna, New York, San Francisco, Bulgaria, Romania, Italy, Israel Mexico, Brazil, Mali, Singapore, and South Africa etc.

On September 26, 2006 Kiahkeya (www.kiahkeya.com) will celebrate its name and founding. A birthday of sorts... The formal flourishing of Kiahkeya is an event with visionary intention. The evening will showcase adventurous photographers from four continents, up and coming Musician Baba Djire from Mali, Tribal Dancer Sekou Keita from Mali (African pop icon Saleif Keitas main dancer) a powerful multi-media world music/tribal dance performance INTAKA, by the Kiahkeya Ensemble with special NYC guest musicians Jamshied Sharifi, Hassan Hakmoun, Haale, and Akim Funk Buddha. As a highlight of the evening the trailer for the Film 'Footsteps IN Africa,' will be premiered. 'Footsteps in Africa' is a musical journey about the music, dance and resilient livelihood of the migratory Tuareg people in the Sahara of Mali. Throughout the night featured DJ JC from Bamako, Mali will play Tribal Tuareg house music and DJ Chrome (NYC) will play Afro-Brazilian sounds. Later in the evening the infamous DJ Rich Madina spinning Afro-Funk and Amayo's Fu-Arkist-Ra, native to Nigeria and Brooklyn, will premiere an intergalactic Afro-Beat 12 person-band show 'Rhythms of Resistance.'
