Steve Barnett is president of the consumer research and insights group at Smart Revenue, where he designs and directs consumer research and strategy projects for clients such as Pepsi, Colgate, Pfizer, Saatchi & Saatchi, Universal Studios, and Cap Gemini. He is known internationally for his expertise in scenario-based market strategy and business strategy development, and has written extensively on global consumer culture, American cultural trends, corporate responsibility, and Asian modernization. Steve's previous positions include senior partner at OgilvyOne (part of Ogilvy & Mather), vice president and director of consumer strategic development at Citibank's Global Consumer Bank, managing director of GBN, and director of of product strategy and development for Nissan North America.

Steve has a Ph.D. in cultural anthropology, currently teaches the core e-commerce course at The Wharton School, and regularly publishes on consumer and interactive trends. He has pioneered anthropological observational research as a business and public policy tool and has developed strategic consumer analysis, combining scenario-based planning with emerging consumer desires.
